Roberto Carlos has backed himself to persuade Neymar to make a switch from Camp Nou to Santiago Benabeu in future.
Carlos is likely to get into Madrid’s support staff under the new boss Zidane.
Carlos and Zidane were teammates at Madrid for a long time and the two formed the core of the Blancos’ defence before the latter hung his boots in 2006.
A season later, Carlos left Madrid as well and moved to the smaller leagues.
Until the last year, the Brazilian had been playing in the Indian Super League for the Delhi Dynamos.
Confirming that he’s been in touch with Madrid for the coaching job, Carlos said, “The club has talked to me. Right now I don’t know which role they want me to have in, but, hopefully, everything would be clear soon.”
When asked about his compatriot Neymar, the former left-back said, “If I join Madrid, I could get Neymar over there as well. He is an outrageously talented youngster and with experience, he will get even more potent.”
Neymar, since he has signed for Barcelona, has always said that he is very happy and satisfied playing for the Catalan giants, but, there have been a few contract issues between him and the club of late.
As per the reports, the player’s father is keen for his son to be rewarded with contract extension before the 2015-16 Season is over and the talks regarding that are being held.
If there is no agreement between the two parties, it might open the door for the other clubs which desperately want the Selecao skipper in their ranks.
Apart from Madrid, the Manchester United top brass is also believed to be quite amazed by Neymar and they would not mind even breaking the transfer records to get him.
